Vehicle Slams Into Pittsburgh Residence, Catches Fire

PITTSBURGH, PA — A vehicle crashed into a home and burst into flames Tuesday night in the city's Knoxville section.

At around 8:23 p.m. , police, fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to the 200 block of Reifert Street. Firefights pulled the driver from the vehicle, which was on fire. Medics took the man to the hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

Police said the cause of the crash was a probable drug overdose./p>

No one inside the home was injured. A woman who occupies the first floor was displaced, but left to stay with family members. The Red Cross will be assisting a second-floor occupant with temporary accommodations.

The city Department of Permits. Licenses, and Inspections was called to examine the integrity of the residence.
