Restaurants also are offering free meals to active military personnel.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Saturday is Veterans Day and the restaurant industry again is saying thanks to vets and active military personnel by offering them free meals. Here’s a sampling of the dining options:

  • Applebee's

Vets have their choice of these entrees: butcher’s meat and potatoes, oriental chicken salad, fiesta lime chicken, chicken tenders platter, double crunch shrimp, American standard burger or three-cheese chicken cavatappi.

  • Olive Garden

In addition to an unlimited soup or salad, and garlic breadsticks, eligible customers can choose any item from this list of Olive Garden's most popular items: cheese ravioli, spaghetti with meat sauce, lasagna classico and chicken parmigiana.

  • Red Robin

Vets can get a free Red’s Tavern double burger with bottomless steak fries.

  • Chili’s

Veterans have these meal choices: chicken crispers, chicken bacon ranch quesadillas, oldtimer with cheese and classic bacon burger.

  • Red Lobster

Vets can get free appetizers or desserts. The appetizers include sweet chili shrimp, mozzarella cheesesticks, parrot isle jumbo coconut shrimp, seafood stuffed mushrooms, lobster and langostino pizza and signature shrimp cocktail. Desserts include vanilla bean cheesecake, warm apple crostada, key lime pie and chocolate wave.

Offering a free lunch menu up to $12.

Providing a free six-inch turkey sub and a car wash.

Offering a free small traditional or boneless wings with a side of fries.
