HOMESTEAD, PA — Pizzeria Uno, a staple at The Waterfront since the restaurant, retail and residential complex opened in 1999, has suddenly closed.

The Boston-based chain, best known for its Chicago-style deep dish pizza, has removed The Waterfront location from its website. The restaurant's Waterfront Facebook page lists it as permanently closed.

The closure was first reported in the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Uno becomes the second major restaurant to depart The Waterfront this year. In July, the cavernous Rock Bottom next to Dave & Busters suddenly shut its doors.

It is unclear when the buildings will be occupied again, but one eatery vacancy was filled last December when Shorty's Tap X Taco moved into in former Bar Louie space.
