Well-Known Pittsburgh Restaurant Closing For Good

Franktuary, the popular Lawrenceville hot dog shop and bar, will permanently close at the end of January.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Franktuary, the popular Lawrenceville hot dog shop and bar, will permanently close at the end of January.

"Please join us by dining in throughout the holiday season and beginning of the new year to say goodbye to your favorite franks and poutine," an announcement on the Butler Street eatery's website stated.

"Our food truck will continue to appear at local events, but we will no longer be operating a brick and mortar location. Thanks Lawrenceville for 9 great years."

Franktuary was founded in downtown Pittsburgh in 2004 when two college friends began serving dogs in the basement of the Trinity Cathedral, Downtown.
