Where To Get Rid Of Your Christmas Tree In And Around Pittsburgh
Eventually, that beautiful tree is going to have to go. Here's a Patch guide to convenient drop-off places.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Christmas tree will have to come down sooner rather than later. How do you dispose of it?
Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh have multiple locations to retire this year's tree. County residents can drop them off Dec. 26 through Jan. 14 from 8 a.m. until dusk at the following locations:
- Boyce Park — Soccer Fields Parking Lot
- Deer Lakes Park — Veterans Shelter Parking Lot
- Harrison Hills Park — Parking Lot at Chipmunk Drive and Cottontail Drive
- Hartwood Acres Park — Middle Road Parking Lot
- North Park — Swimming Pool Parking Lot
- Round Hill Park — Alfalfa Shelter Parking Lot
- Settlers Cabin Park — Wave Pool Parking Lot
- South Park — Wave Pool Parking Lot
- White Oak Park — Chestnut Shelter Parking Lot
All lights, decorations, tinsel and stands must be removed from trees prior to drop-off. Trees will be mulched and used in the county parks.

In the city, the Department of Public Works is accepting trees Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:
- Northern Division, 300 Kilbuck Road.
- Homewood West, North Dallas and Hamilton avenues
- Hazelwood, Melancthon Avenue off of the 5200 block of Second Avenue.
- Elliot, Hassler Street off of Herschel and Steuben streets.
