Wild Weather Looms For Pittsburgh Area

Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania likely will experience some wicked weather today. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Thursday night could prove bad weather-wise for Western Pennsylvania.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected along and ahead of a cold front late this afternoon into tonight. The National Weather Service says there is risk for severe thunderstorms. Damaging wind is expected to be the main hazard, though isolated tornadoes and large hail are also possible.

In addition, as much of two inches of rain is possible. This could result in flash flooding. A flash flood watch may be needed. The potential for flooding could continue into Friday morning, with streams and creeks also likely remaining elevated through the day.

The cold front will bring sharply colder temperatures to the region. Today's high temperature is expected to be in the mid-70s. The high tomorrow will only reach the low 50s.
