Here are the top stories today in Pittsburgh:
1) The death of a Beaver County man, which resulted from his fall from an escalator at Acrisure Stadium in October, has been ruled accidental by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. Dalton Ryan Keane, 27, of Monaca, fell from an escalator following the Steelers-New York Jets game on October 2nd. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. Keane's death resulted from multiple blunt force injuries to his head, trunk and extremities caused by the fall, the medical examiner's office ruled. According to his obituary, Keane was a member of the Local 449 Steamfitters Union and worked as a pipefitter welder.
2) Two children died early this morning in a fire that broke out around 2:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Miller Way. Firefighters were able to pull the children from the home, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. An adult who escaped the blaze was taken to an area hospital. That person's condition is unknown. The names and ages of the children have not yet been released. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

3) A winter storm watch—complete with freezing rain— has been issued for ice accumulations in areas outside Pittsburgh. The inclement weather is expected to hit Wednesday night into Thursday morning, a National Weather Service meteorologist said today. With cold air in place, freezing rain will start developing over the area around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, meteorologist David Shallenberger said. In lower elevations, Shallenberger said the freezing rain will change back to rain by daybreak Thursday. But in higher elevations in Westmoreland, Indiana and Fayette counties where it will remain colder, freezing rain is expected to last longer and accumulate up to a quarter of an inch. Pittsburgh and Allegheny County will see some freezing rain Wednesday night into Thursday morning, but Shallenberger said it will be very brief with no accumulation expected. Cold arctic air is forecast to stick around into the weekend and next week. Some snow showers will be possible, but Shallenberger said limited accumulation is expected.

4) The popular Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown hotel made news this week after receiving a bed bugs claim from a North Carolina woman who stayed there last week. Sary Martinez, who is 20 weeks pregnant, says she checked into the hotel on Thursday, Dec. 8, for two nights. The guest said she and her husband flew to Pittsburgh for her husband's work holiday party. "Around 3 a.m., I woke up, and I was wearing a sweatshirt and I woke up, and I was just itching. My arms were just itching," Martinez said. At first, Martinez didn't think much of it, but by the next day, her condition got worse. She showed news outlets pictures of the bites all over her body. Martinez says she put several bed bugs into a cup to show hotel staff and they were given a new room. "That was it. We were just told the moment we were moved to another room 'I am sorry there is no refund because it was prepaid. We will give you a $50 discount if you eat at the restaurant downstairs,' to which we said, "No thank you."
5) Pittsburgh native and rap music star Wiz Khalifa is back in town to promote his own medical marijuana brand: Khalifa Kush. People lined up to see him in Washington County on Monday afternoon as he visited to market his new products. "To just meet up and support the people who support us. You're able to buy my pot medicinally. Khalifa Kush is the best pot in the world, and I want the people that I love the most to enjoy it, so I'm here to do that," Khalifa told local news. This event came on Wiz Khalifa Day. It was a decade ago this week when Pittsburgh City Council honored the 2006 Taylor Allderdice graduate as he honors his Pittsburgh roots.
