Woman Dies After Plummeting Into Empty Pittsburgh School Pool
A construction worker laboring at a Pittsburgh Public Schools pool area has died after falling into an empty swimming pool.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman died Monday after falling into an empty pool at the Pittsburgh Public Schools Obama Academy on North Highland Avenue in East Liberty.
Just before 9 a.m., city Police, Fire and EMS were called to the scene for reports of a woman who was injured after falling from construction scaffolding.
Construction workers were at the school working in the pool area. Scaffolding was erected in the empty pool area while that work was being performed. Responders located the woman at the bottom of the empty pool after she fell approximately 30 feet.

The victim suffered traumatic injuries to her head consistent with a fall of that height.
She was taken to the hospital by Pittsburgh EMS in grave condition, where she was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release the victim's identity.
It's not known what type of work was being performed in the pool area when she fell. Further details were unavailable Monday.
The incident remains under investigation.
