Woman Dies After Raft Overturns At Ohiopyle State Park: Report

The Ohio resident's raft overturned in some rapids near the Lower Youghiogheny River, a report said. River guides tried to revive her.

OHIOPYLE, PA — A woman died after her raft overturned in some rapids in Ohiopyle State Park Sunday and she fell into the water, a report said.

The 51-year-old woman was from Columbus, Ohio according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The rapids were near the Lower Youghiogheny River.

River guides got the woman out of the water quickly, according to Pennlive. They tried to revive her along with park rangers and emergency medics from a local fire department, the Post-Gazette reported.

Medical staff at Uniontown Hospital pronounced her dead around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the Post-Gazette reported.
