PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman died Monday after her car went out of control, traveled down a steep embankment and flipped onto a garage in the city's Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood.

The initial investigation shows the victim’s sedan was traveling south on Lincoln Avenue when it crossed the center line, drove through a parking lot at the corner of the intersection and crossed Apple Street. The vehicle then stuck a low concrete barrier and fence on the southern side of Apple and became airborne. It hit a tree on its decent down the hill, flipped over, and finally came to rest upside down, on a dilapidated garage below.

According to public safety officials, it was a complicated and lengthy process to remove the vehicle from the garage rooftop as the structure was unsound and dangerous for crews. A crane had to be called in to help recover the vehicle.
