WPGH-TV Adding 6:30 P.M. Weeknight Newscast; WPXI To Produce Show
A new nightly newscast is in the works for WPGH-TV.
PITTSBURGH, PA — WPGH Fox 53 and WPXI are teaming up on a new 6:30 p.m. weekday newscast featuring the WPXI news team on WPGH. The 30-minute program, to debut March 14, will be anchored by David Johnson and Liz Kilmer.
WPXI long has produced a 10 p.m. newscast airing on WPGH.
“Channel 11 looks forward to expanding our local news partnership with Fox 53 with this new newscast,” WPXI vice president and general manager Kevin Hayes said in a news release. “The 10 o’clock news has become a Pittsburgh institution and viewers can expect the same dedication to our 6:30 p.m. broadcast.”

“At Fox 53, we couldn’t think of a better addition to our programming lineup, than to add an
additional 30 minutes of news from Channel 11,” WPGH vice president and general manager Rich Cook said. “The 6:30 p.m. time slot is a crucial time of day for local families and we are pleased to be able to offer more local news and weather.”
