PITTSBURGH, PA - WTAE-TV has parted ways with veteran meteorologist Ray Petelin after seven years. Petelin confirmed the departure on his Facebook page.
“Right now, I'm a meteorologist without a TV station,” Petelin wrote in a post. “It was not my decision, but that's life. I choose to look at this as an opportunity, rather than a setback.”
The Emmy Award-nominated Petelin came to WTAE from WSEE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Erie, where he had worked since 2003. He holds seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

Petelin said via Facebook that he has invested money in personal equipment over the years and still plans on delivering weather forecasts - just not on TV for the time being.
“I can do weather anywhere,” he stated. “I still plan to do Facebok lives and give updates from home. Thank you for tuning in over the years and I hope you continue to do so.”
