• Dunmore man not contesting assault charge for kicking staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley (timesleader.com) — A man has entered a no contest plea to an aggravated assault charge tied to an incident at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, where staff were injured during a crisis evaluation last June. Prosecutors dropped several additional charges, and the defendant remains free on bail while awaiting sentencing in Luzerne County Court on June 1.
   

• LITTLE LEAGUE: Wyoming Valley to host state, regional tournaments; District 16 absorbs District 18 (citizensvoice.com) — Little League teams from Plains will now compete in a reshaped District 31 that includes several nearby communities, potentially creating new rivalries and tougher all-star brackets. At the same time, Jenkins Township and Nanticoke will host major state and regional tournaments in July, expected to draw teams from across Pennsylvania and the East Coast and bring visitors into Luzerne County.
