Be sure to catch HS Football @ Plum on the Plum Patch calendar

Wednesday September 16th Patch AM (Patch graphic)

Hello Plum! Here's our latest buzz. Let's get into it. ☀️

In today's newsletter:

  • How far will Plum Council go to fight seniors' rent hike?
  • How was a Plum warehouse tied to a multimillion-dollar THC pipeline?

Today's riddle: What is the difference between black eyed peas and chick peas? 🤔 (Answer below!)

Weather forecast:

  • Wednesday: A t-storm around in the p.m., with a high of 85 and low of 68 degrees.
  • Thursday: Humid; an afternoon t-storm, temps: high: 80, low: 64.
  • Friday: Decreasing clouds; less humid, with a high of 76 and low of 57 degrees.

📰 News we're reading

• Plum Council responds to senior citizen outcry over increasing rent (triblive.com) — Plum seniors at Clover Commons are pushing back against an 11% land-rent hike, and Plum Council has unanimously passed a resolution backing them and urging state senators to move House Bill 1250. The bill would cap annual rent increases in modular home communities, a change residents say is critical as many widows and fixed-income neighbors already struggle to afford food, medicine, and housing.

• 143,000 illegal THC products seized in statewide trafficking investigation, Pennsylvania authorities say (cbsnews.com) — A major narcotics investigation has tied more than 11,000 suspected illegal THC products to a warehouse in Plum Borough, one of three hubs across Pennsylvania. State investigators say undercover buys at the Plum site uncovered gummies, vapes, and pre-rolled joints that mostly tested positive for illegal THC, part of a network accused of moving millions of dollars in product and cash.
