Glasspool to Replace Naccarati as Plum School District Superintendent

The Plum Borough School Board hired Assistant Superintendent Timothy Glasspool as the district superintendent beginning Jan. 1, 2012.

Assistant Superintendent Timothy Glasspool will be the new superintendent at the beginning of the school year's second semester.

The school board hired Glasspool on Tuesday night under a four-year contract. He will be paid $130,000 per year.

Glasspool is replacing current superintendent Lillian Naccarati, who is retiring at the end of December.

"I am honored to serve in the capacity as superintendent and will continue the projects currently in place designed to increase student achievement and growth while operating the district in a fiscally sound manner," he said. "I look forward to working with the Plum community stakeholders as we continue to move progressively into 21st century public education."

Glasspool has been working in the district as the assistant superintendent since early 2010. He taught at and in the late '90s, and has been an administrator at Burrel and New Kensington-Arnold school districts.

Plum School Board President Kevin Dowdell said no one else was considered for the position.

Naccarati highly reccommended Glasspool to serve as her replacement, and the board was impressed with a five-year plan he presented, Dowdell said.

"(Glasspool) has a broad background," he said. "He knows about education and business. So many administrators are leaving, and we wanted the continuity."

Dowdell said the board hopes to have someone in place to replace Glasspool as assistant superintendent by January. Though hiring notifications have been sent out, the board hasn't received any applications at this time.
