No Wetlands Reported at New High School Softball Field Site
Wetland Assessments showed land is suitable for softball field construction.

Work on the new softball field is expected to begin by next week.
At a Plum School Board facilities committee meeting on Tuesday, L.R. Kimball architect Steve Ackerman said wetland assessments at the site garnered negative results.
"It's all good news," he said. "There are no wetlands."

Last week, the school board agreed to pay $2,000 for wetland assessment on the land that will house the new field after it was requested by the Allegheny County Conservation District.
Ackerman said the district might experience a minimal cost increase to the $264,750 project price tag because Plum Borough engineers requested the subsurface water retention structure be relocated from the outer area of the site into the outfield.

Once the district receives all the appropriate approvals, work can begin.
Palumbo Landscaping Inc. of Penn Hills this month will install the new field next to the existing boys baseball field at the high school. Work is expected to be completed by November. The field will be ready for the softball season in the spring.
