Pivik Elementary School Day Interrupted Due To Transformer Outage

students experienced an interruption during the day due to a faulty transformer on Wednesday.

According to the Plum Borough School District website, a transformer on School Road malfunctioned and restricted about one-third of Pivik's electricity.

As a result of the transformer malfunction, an air handler inside the building malfunctioned creating smoke in the auditorium area. The building was evacuated while police and fire officials checked for a fire in the building. 

Students returned to the building at about 2 p.m. to continue the school day.

Duquesne Light will be replacing the outside transformer this afternoon, according to the district website.
