Plum School Board Waives Portion of Delinquent Taxes on Vacant Property

The board waived a portion of delinquent taxes on a vacant property in an effort to attract a potential buyer.

Plum Borough School Board has agreed to strike tax liens on a vacant property.

A lot at 120 Lynn Ann Drive, which had accrued both school and borough taxes while sitting vacant, will have its school taxes waived if the purchaser pays the district $8,500, covers any legal fees needed to gain court approval of a sale and builds on the property within a court-specified time frame.

Earlier this month, Plum Council voted 5-1 for the property. Resident Matt Palermo, who has made an offer on it, said he and his wife plan to build a home there.

The measure gained the board’s unanimous approval without further discussion.
