PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A man who was stalking a woman in Plymouth Township attacked police officers and disarmed one of them as they tried to arrest him, police said.
The incident occurred on Oct. 21 on the 2000 block of Chemical Road.
The woman had a protection from abuse order on Dallas Whitt Anderson-James, which James continued to violate, according to authorities.
At around 4:54 p.m., police said they came to the woman's Chemical Road home where they found Anderson-James and warned him that an arrest warrant was pending.
But Anderson-James returned at around 7:09 p.m., walking down the road in front of the house, police said.
Officers confronted him on the Cross County Trail near the Barnes and Noble store. Anderson-James refused to stop and refused to take his hands out of his pocket, according to officials.
A struggle ensured, during which Anderson-James took one of the officer's tasers, then later tried to pull the officer's pistol from its holster, police said.
The officer was able to hold onto his gun before Anderson-James was controlled and put under arrest.
Two officers were injured during the incident. Both were released from the hospital, though one is expected to miss time due to recovery from an army injury.
Anderson-James was charged with aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, stalking, simple assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault, and violating the protection from abuse order.
Anderson-James was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 10.
