Conshohocken’s New Boutique Gives Itself ‘Free Reign’
The Ridge Pike shop has a little bit of everything.
At Free Reign Boutique, Ridge Pike’s not yet four-month-old shrine to eclecticism, a shopper can find—without looking particularly hard—necklaces, earrings, bracelets, watches, picture frames, jackets, sweaters, lotions, silver serving platters, scarves, bamboo floor mats, stuffed animals, candles, blouses, vases, and at least eight kinds of hats. Which is to say, a staggering variety of things. Which is exactly how Linda Denenberg drew it up.
“We wanted a little bit of everything,” Denenberg, who owns and operates the boutique with her son Josh, explained from its spacious and potpourri-scented lobby. “We didn’t want to be just a gift store or a bridal registry. We wanted a mix of the familiar and the new.”
She seems to have acheived it. In her categorization-defying shop, a customer willing to look moderately hard—defined here as walking beyond the lobby—would find, side-by-side, fashion-forward home and baby supplies, gourmet food, books, puzzles, and a host of other items Denenberg says were selected to appeal to as broad a customer base as possible.

The shop also strives for manufacturing diversity. Free Reign toes a balance between familiar names like Michael Aram, Chamilia, Vera Bradley, and Brighton, and products hand-crafted by local artisans—like the Pennsylvania-manufactured heirloom stone bracelets that have a display by the counter. Most of the items were crafted in the USA.
There are new additions on the way too. Denenberg says she is actively looking for a café to take the third of three spaces Free Reign's building is comprised of. (, which her father founded and she now operates, occupies the other space).

“We want it to be a destination where people can come in, have a cup of coffee, and shop for all occasions,” she said.
Minus the coffee, it seems Free Reign is already there.
