PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — A man employed as a first responder visited the Plymouth Meeting Home Depot 32 times in 9 months, stealing more than $20,000 in merchandise, police said.

Davis used "ticket switching" at the store's self-checkout registers to steal the items, according to authorities.

Ticket switching involves taking the barcode of a cheaper item and switching it with a much more expensive item.

In other cases, Davis did not scan the merchandise in his cart before leaving the self checkout area, police said.

On at least five occasions, Davis was accompanied during the thefts by several small children who were in his custody. He also wore his EMS uniform during several different instances.

Davis surrendered to Plymouth Meeting Police on April 5 and was released on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
