'No Evidence Of Crime' In Death Of Elderly Whitemarsh Couple: DA

Breaking: The cause of death of the elderly Whitemarsh couple was released by authorities on Friday morning.

WHITEMARSH, PA — No evidence of foul play was discovered in the deaths of the elderly couple found outside their Whitemarsh home last month, spurring a massive police response and alarm amongst residents in the local area.

The results of the toxicology report from the Montgomery County Coroner's Office listed the cause of death for Ross Woodward, 84, as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The cause of death for Rhoda Woodward, 81, was a blunt impact injury to the head, with a contributing cause of enviornmental hypothermia.

The manner of death has been listed as "undetermined" — which means that no one knows exactly how the situation unfolded.

The announcement comes some six weeks after the bodies were found in front of the home on the 500 block of Bethlehem Pike by a U.S. Postal Service worker on Dec. 4, 2018.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and Whitemarsh Police said on Friday that the investigation was now closed.

The Woodwards had been married for 63 years last September.
