PECO Update: 50K Still Without Power
Tens of thousands remained without power Thursday morning in the wake of severe thunderstorms and rain.

Over 50 thousand Pennsylvania residents are still without power Thursday morning after severe thunderstorms and heavy rain ripped through the region Tuesday night.
PECO outage maps report a total of 54,283 customers without power.
The number has been more than cut in half since Wednesday, when 142,868 were affected.

The worst hit was Delaware County, which had over 100,000 outages on its own by midnight Tuesday. Over 69,000 remained without power there on Wednesday, and by Thursday morning, the number persisted at 25,497.
Chester County was the next hardest hit, with 25,775 outages remaining.

Philadelphia (753), Montgomery (1,059), and York (1,172) Counties have each seen their outage numbers drop significantly since Wednesday.
In Bucks County, 27 customers are without power, up from just 5 on Wednesday.
Delaware County declared a state of emergency on Wednesday, power outages shut down government offices, closed roads, and sent seniors to the hospital when their oxygen tanks ran out of batteries.
PECO officials are hoping that 95 percent of residents have power restored by Friday.
“PECO has notified me that they have activated their Emergency Response Organization and all available personnel are responding to restore service as safely and quickly as possible,” said State Rep. William Adolph (PA-165). “An additional 200 contractors have joined PECO crews to assist with restoration.”
PECO has also requested the assistance of an additional 500 field personnel from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and New York to help restore service, according to Adolph.
