Kid-friendly band The Cat's Pajamas performs to an enthusiastic crowd at the Plymouth Township Community Park Amphitheater on Wednesday.

It was a perfect summer night on Wednesday when Philly-based family band The Cat's Pajamas took the stage at the Community Center Park Amphitheater.  The band's energy swept up kids and parents alike during the one hour performance sponsored by the Greater Plymouth Community Center, which was followed at dusk with an under-the-stars showing of Pixar's Toy Story 3.

While the band has a number of members, four were on hand to sing songs of pirates, gardens, and the importance of taking a personal "time out."  Vocalist and group leader Janet Schreiner held the attention of around 200 parents and kids, most of whom were in the pre-school set, making it no small feat.  Kids were quickly following her energetic dance moves and hand motions, while parents kept time through applause.  She was joined by her equally energetic bandmates: Bob Beach, on flute and harmonica; Emily Bate on acoustic guitar; and Debbie Stahl on electric guitar.  The group had fantastic chemistry and made the concert enjoyable for everyone in attendance.

During the concert, Chick-Fil-A was on hand selling chicken nuggets and lemonade, while the Community Center sold candy and popcorn.  Penn Liberty gave out bubbles and glow-sticks, both of which added to the idyllic summer ambiance at the show.

The summer entertainment series runs each Wednesday throughout the season, ending August 3.  According to Community Center staff, planning for the events begins each November, which definitely contributes to the success of the series.  Entertainers are found through internet searches, community input, and direct communication with the groups themselves.

Check out the Plymouth Township website to see what other movies and concerts are scheduled for the rest of the summer.
