Our gregarious server greeted us and explained the complimentary pecan bun after we ordered our beverages. The size of a dinner plate itself, this bun is the brunch equivalent of a basket of rolls or breadsticks for lunch or dinner. Twisted with cinnamon, it is slathered with a caramel sauce and generously sprinkled with chopped pecans. The warm bun is topped off with a devilishly large ball of butter.
Redstone American Grill’s brunch menu offers a selection for those who are on either side of the breakfast / lunch portmanteau. The Redstone Breakfast offers a three-egg entrée cooked to your preference, your choice of breakfast sausage, applewood smoked bacon, chicken-apple sausage, hash browns, and toast. The hash browns are shredded potatoes combined with cream cheese.

The hash browns were a featured side dish on both of my dining companions’ meals as well as mine. We could identify there was a cheese mixed into the cooked hash browns, but were mystified with the type of cheese. Our server solved our mystery when she explained it was in fact cream cheese. We were surprised on how far off we were and she agreed that the addition of cream cheese from all types available is a favorable culinary curveball.
My dining companion favored her eggs in a particular way but wasn’t sure of the culinary term for it. Without prompting, our server described to the chef the way my friend wanted her eggs. The chef that she might like her eggs cooked over hard which was right on target. I was nice to see unprompted customer service.
An unexpected and personal touch to the Redstone Breakfast is a strawberry jam served with your choice of toast or English muffin. My friend could taste that this was something extraordinary and certainly not out of a jar, and once again our server had an answer for us. The Redstone chefs created their own strawberry jam as a secret recipe. Our server was kind enough to give me some jam to take home.
Two other entrées ordered were the Chef’s Omelet and the Eggs Benedict. Changing in variation every week, the Chef’s Omelet at this time featured feta, caramelized onions, and spinach. The Eggs Benedict came in both a standard version and Crab Benedict.
Both versions promised a stomach full of deliciousness of poached eggs cooked perfectly topped onto a large English muffin. The hollandaise sauce was a perfect sunny blend and made a happy combination of flavors created with addition of the Canadian bacon. Those who want to move away from the breakfast norm can choose the Crab Benedict.
If you prefer lunch, you have a plethora of options to decide upon. You can choose from the Small Plate section that offers something for everyone from Jerk Chicken Fondue, Seared Ahi Tuna, and Lodge Cornbread served with delectable maple butter.
There are more substantial options that are slight variations from their lunch menu that will fill your belly, including a rotisserie turkey sandwich that features turkey marinated in buttermilk. This style makes the turkey slices tender to bite into. It’s quite a fairly typical sandwich that is made with a melted cheese that makes me wish I could have it for lunch every afternoon.
Finally, Redstone’s Original Burger was a good-sized hamburger cooked over charcoal and served on a roll that was portioned to the patty. The standard fixings included shredded lettuce and tomatoes that fit well with the size of the sandwich. The added surprise was a fresh pickle by no means came out of a jar.
Although Redstone’s prices are higher than most, they do deliver a good brunch. The décor suggests a higher-end restaurant, but the service is friendly and welcoming without a hint of snobbery. If you have a question, an answer will be found for any request. Whether you dine alone or with a group of friends or family, you will be right at home at this establishment.
