The Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County has weighed in on the issue, and is urging lawmakers and the general public to support the measure:
We respectfully request your support of the pending legislation regarding use of radar as a speed enforcement tool for municipal police departments in Pennsylvania.

Like other municipal police departments in the other 49 states, our hope is to use radar to enforce speed limits to help improve motorists' driving behavior, and reduce traffic crashes and fatalities.
Also, one of the most common "quality of life" complaints that our departments receive is speeding vehicles in residential neighborhoods. To compare the current tools we have to address those complaints to radar is like comparing an abacus to a scientific calculator.
The bills are currently awaiting a vote in both the House and Senate.
What do you think? Should Montgomery County and Pennsylvania law enforcement be empowered to use radar detection equipment like the rest of the country?
