PWHS Students Named Merit Scholars

13 students named Merit Scholars

 Thirteen Plymouth Whitemarsh High School seniors have been recognized for their "exceptional academic promise" by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, according to a release from the Colonial School District.

Three PWHS students, Michael Ciesielka, Alfred Garvey and Joshua Rosen, were named National Merit Semifinalists, the release states. The students will be considered for one of 8,300 National Merit Scholarships scheduled to be offered in the sping of 2012.

The students scored among the top one percent of the more than 1.5 million juniors in over 22,000 high schools nationwide who took the 2010 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), the release states.

Ten students, Leigh Brosof, Kyra Hanlon, Benjamin Kovacic, Stefanie Lombardo, Lindsey Moyer, Matthew Pressman, Lauren Ravitch, Charles Tabachnick, Benjamin Walker and Sarah Yaure, were named "Commended Students" for scoring among the top five percent, the release says.
