Raise a Pint for Premature Babies

Today is a Good Day, an organization that provides personal and financial support to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) families, will hold its Pints for Preemies beer tasting and fundraising event on Friday, March 25 from 6-9 p.m. at Bluestone Country Club, 711 Boehms Church Road, Blue Bell, PA.

This year’s event will be a hybrid and will again feature Ryan Daley, Master Cicerone® of the Brewers Collective, a division of Anheuser-Busch. Pints for Preemies offers options for in-person or virtual tasting, toasts lead by Daley, and raffle drawings, all while attendees learn the nuances of different varieties of beer. The cost for the event is $150 per person for individual in-person/virtual tickets and $250 for a couple’s virtual ticket. Just as a sommelier designates those with advanced knowledge about wine, a Cicerone® designates those with advanced knowledge about beer. A Master Cicerone® is the highest level of Cicerone® certification. It recognizes persons who have considerable knowledge of beer and brewing, and can educate consumers about the differences and subtleties among the many varieties of beer. Daley is one of 20 Master Cicerones® in the world and has over 17 years of experience in the beer industry. He is eager to share what he has learned to help people become more knowledgeable and passionate about beer.

Entering its lucky 7th year, Pints for Preemies has raised over $200,000 since its inception. Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s virtual programming, signature care packages, direct financial grants to families, and other crucial resources that help families during their NICU journeys.

Inspired by their experience at a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in a suburban Philadelphia hospital, Martha and Paul Sharkey founded the non-profit organization Today is a Good Day in 2014. The foundation was established in honor of their daughter, Claire Josephine, and in memory of her identical twin sister, Mary Gladys. Claire and Mary were born at just 23 weeks and 5 days. Sadly, Mary passed away after only two weeks in the NICU. Miraculously, Claire beat the odds and came home after 103 days in the NICU.

Following Claire’s hospitalization, the Sharkey family discovered there was a significant gap in care directed towards parents in the NICU. Today is a Good Day helps families during what can be a turbulent and lonely experience, by providing them with personal and financial support.
