WPD Reports: 30-50 Necklaces Stolen in Butler Pike Burglary

All information is according to official police reports filed at the Whitemarsh Township Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary:
At approximately 1:27 p.m. on Aug. 14, a resident of the 100 block of North Lane, Conshohocken, reported to police that an unknown person had entered her home while at work through an unlocked bathroom window.

The victim told police that she discovered 30 to 50 gold and silver necklaces had been stolen from an upstairs bedroom.  She specifically said that a thin gold chain with three small pearls, a black and gold Spanish style necklace had been taken.

The resident also discovered opened drawers in a first floor bedroom, and that a jewelry box had been moved, although there did not appear to be any missing jewelry.

$15,000 in fraudulent purchases:
At approximately 8:48 a.m. on Aug. 16, a husband and wife who reside on the first block of Sycamore Lane, Ambler, told police that they had discovered numerous accounts fraudulently opened in their names at various stores. The victims told police that their social security numbers had been used and said the below charges totaled almost $15,000.

Attempted motor vehicle theft:
At approximately 5:16 a.m. on Aug. 14, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Butler Pike, Conshohocken, for the report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, police found a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle lying in the middle of the roadway with its headlights and taillights illuminated.

An investigation would determine that an unknown person attempted to steal the motorcycle by detaching the ignition wires and placing the vehicle in override. Police believed that the person was unable to start the motorcycle and that’s why it was left in the road.

Police had the motorcycle towed and contacted the owner to arrange the vehicle’s return.

Fraudulent PWHS Check:
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 15, a Colonial School District employee told police that a fraudulent PWHS check was passed at a Wells Fargo Bank on South Broad Street in Philadelphia.

According to a police report, the check was for $2,500 and was made out to a “Brianne M. Martin.” On the memo line was a note of “JR. Prom Deposit,” and there were two illegible forged signatures on the check.
