Davey was rushed by Goodwill Ambulance to a nearby trauma center, where he passed away at around 4 a.m. on Monday, police said.

"Davey was a wonderful kid who was friendly, loving and kind. He did not deserve this," wrote Angela Hope, who created the GoFundMe page. "He was a hero at 17 years old."

Police said that the suspects knew Davey and his family before, and that the incident was not random. At least one suspect has been identified already, according to authorities.

An investigation is ongoing.
