Construction Triggers False Schuylkill River Flood Warning

POTTSTOWN, PA — The Schuylkill River isn't flooding on a perfectly calm day, after all.

The U.S. National Weather Service maintains flood gauges along all significant creeks, rivers, and other major waterways, including several along the Schuylkill River.

Construction near the flood gauge in Pottstown briefly triggered a notification that flooding of 20 feet was expected.

The NWS website's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service notes the construction as causing false readings.

The river's level remains at a normal 3.42 feet. Flood stage is 12.5 feet.
