For Hatchet Attack On Stepfather, PA Man Sentenced To County Jail
A 24-year-old Boyertown man will spend between 11 and 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to attacking his stepfather with a hatchet.

DOUGLASS TOWNSHIP, PA — A Berks County man will spend at least 11 months in county jail following his guilty plea in a hatchet attack on his stepfather, court records show.
I J Bobby Christopher Burrell, 24, pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the attack at his home in Boyertown. He has been in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility since Douglass Township police arrested him last November, records show.
Township officers came to Pottstown Hospital to investigate an assault on Nov. 25, Main Line Media News reported. Officers saw wounds on the victim's left hand and left forearm, that report said.

Burrell's stepfather told police that Burrell swung a handheld ax at him during an argument early that morning, according to Main Line Media News.
Court records show that on Sept. 1, Judge Virgil Walker sentenced Burrell to a minimum of 11 months, 15 days and a maximum of 23 months in the county jail.

Upon his release, Walker ordered Burrell directly to inpatient treatment for a psychological evaluation and treatment. Walker also ordered Burrell not to have contact with the victim.
Burrell will be on probation for three years after release, records show.
As a condition of his plea deal, several other charges against him were dropped.
