Nominations Open for YW Tribute to Exceptional Women and Girls

Tribute to Exceptional Women and Girls honors strong, creative, and caring changemakers

YWCA Tri-County Area’s 26th Annual Tribute to Exceptional Women and Girls on June 16 celebrates the accomplishments of local women. This year’s event is from 5 to 8 p.m. at Meredith Manor in Chester County.

The Tribute to Exceptional Women and Girls honors strong, creative, and caring changemakers who lead by example, embrace civic responsibility, and demonstrate exceptional leadership. The June 16 event include keynote speakers, music, testimonials, raffles, and dinner in addition to the awards ceremony.

Each year, YW invites the public to nominate women and girls for Tribute recognition in several categories. Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, May 13. Nominations may be submitted online at tinyurl.com/YWTribute2022. Community members also may nominate women and girls by downloading the application packet and emailing the completed nomination form to Advancement@ywcatricountyarea.org.

Women and girls who are nominated must live or work in Southeastern Pennsylvania; girls must be in fourth grade or older. Award categories for women include:

  • Arts & Culture –a woman who has made significant contributions to arts & culture as an artist, volunteer, leader, educator, or patron of meaningful endeavors within the community.
  • Education – a woman who is a public or private educator, trainer, or administrator inspiring a passion for excellence, innovation, personal growth, development, and lifelong learning.
  • Advocacy/Coretta Scott King Award - a woman who is an Agent of Change with an exemplary record of leadership and service to historically underserved and marginalized communities. Nominees will have demonstrated impact in areas of racial and social justice.
  • Health & Wellness –a woman who has made innovative contributions to health and wellness related fields. Nominees will have demonstrated a dedication to service, public health, and wellness.
  • STEM – a woman who has excelled in STEM-related fields including pure and applied sciences, engineering, life sciences, mathematics, or technology.
  • Sports –a female athlete who serves as an inspiration and role model by overcoming adversity and exhibiting extraordinary courage in her athletic performance, or who has led innovative programs that promote access to sports.
  • Rising Star (ages 18-35) – a young women who has made a significant impact early in their career to better communities they live or work in.
  • Lifetime Achievement – a woman who has devoted her life to making a significant impact in the lives of others. This nominee will have given tireless time and energy to improving the opportunities, development, access, and success of her community. Nominees will embody YW’s mission, exceptional leadership, and a dedication to excellence in both their personal and professional endeavors.
  • Education – a student who inspires passion, excellence, and innovation through education, experience, and exploration.
  • Advocacy – a student who demonstrates the ability to advocate, influence and make an impact in her community or among peers. Nominees in this category must be committed to social justice, peace, equity, and advancing human rights.
  • Health & Wellness – a student who promotes, demonstrates, and encourages the importance of a healthy lifestyle either through fitness, wellness, or behaviors.
  • STEM – Innovation (Grades 6-12) - a student who has a passion for and who has demonstrated excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math. Nominators are asked to submit an example of the nominee’s work or accomplishments in this field.
  • Sports – an outstanding athlete who serves as an inspiration and role model by overcoming adversity and exhibiting extraordinary courage in athletic performance.
  • Junior Rising Star (Grade 12) – a student who exhibits leadership qualities, is often seen as a role model or mentor to peers.

· Arts & Culture – for a student with a love for art and the ability to express self-truth through artistic expression. Nominators are asked to submit a sample of the nominee’s work to marketing@ywcatricountyarea.org.
