Pottstown Drug Dealer Arrested After Car Chase, Police Say
Whitney Phillips, of the 500 block of Chestnut Street, is facing felony drug and evasion charges after a car chase through Pottstown.

A Pottstown man is facing felony drug and evasion charges after he allegedly led police on a vehicle chase through the borough.
The Pottstown Police Department was informed during the morning of Feb. 1 that Whitney Phillips, of the 500 block of Chestnut Street, was wanted on a state parole warrant. Later that evening, police recognized Phillips driving a brown 2000 Chevy Impala with tinted windows in the area of King Street and York Street.
The police report states that the Impala was pulled over while traveling westbound on High Street, but when police approached the vehicle from the passenger side, Phillips allegedly put the vehicle into drive and fled the scene.

Police gave chase through the borough, before Phillips stopped his vehicle at the intersection of West King Street and Scott Street and fled on foot, the report states. Shortly after, police encountered Phillips on the unit block of Boone Court, where he surrendered after an officer drew his Taser.
A search of Phillips allegedly revealed a chunk of crack cocaine that was wrapped in a clear, knotted plastic baggie, as well as $100, a Sentry safe key and a Brinks safe key. Police then took Phillips into custody.

Upon returning to the location where Phillips abandoned the Impala, police noticed a clear plastic baggie laying in clear view on the driver's side floor, the report states. After obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, police also found a marijuana blunt located between the driver's seat and the center console, the report states.
Phillips has been charged with a felony count of possession with intent to distribute, a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
