POTTSTOWN, PA — A Pottstown man shot and killed his roommate inside their apartment in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to authorities. One man is in custody. A large amount of drugs were recovered from the scene.
The incident occurred at around 1:02 a.m. on the 100 block of North Charlotte Street.

During the argument and ensuing scuffle, the bathroom door was broken, police said. Evidence at the scene indicates Madison was backed into the bathroom and then tried to use a plastic pipe to barricade the door, an affidavit of probable cause states.
McMillan then used a Springfield .45 caliber pistol to shoot Madison once, police said.

Officers were nearby when they heard the shot, and when they knocked on the door, McMillan let them in.
Madison was found on the bathroom floor. He was transported to Pottstown Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
McMillan initially denied any involvement in the shooting, police said. An investigation revealed he lied to detectives in the first interviews, and that he hid the weapon in the ceiling panel, according to authorities.
A search of the home revealed 62 bags of crack cocaine in the home, which police said they believed was for distribution.
The weapon, meanwhile, had been reported stolen to New Hanover Township police back on Dec. 12.
McMillan was charged with first degree murder and related counts, and booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. No bail is available for that charge.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 1 at 12:15 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Edward C. Kropp.
