POTTSTOWN, PA — A Pottstown man has been arrested after police said he shot and killed another man who was sitting inside a Jeep outside his home.

Gerald Scott Ramos, 43, was charged with first degree murder, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced Monday.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 5 at around 9:35 p.m. on the 500 block of North Evans Street.

Ramos told detectives that earlier that evening, the victim, Darrius Waller, 36, also of Pottstown, had sped past him on the street and nearly struck him, according to the DA. Ramos did not know Waller.

This made Ramos "so angry" that he returned to his nearby apartment to cool down, before retrieving his gun, going out to Waller in his Jeep, and shooting him dead, police said.

The scene was captured on video surveillance footage, detectives said. Ramos is shown approaching from the rear of the vehicle and walking up to the driver's side before firing the shots, according to police. At least eight shots were fired.

“The murder of Darrius Waller is another senseless murder of a victim that had no relationship with the defendant," District Attorney Kevin Steele said. "This murder was prompted simply by anger over a supposed speeding incident."

Waller was taken to Pottstown Tower Health Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The investigation was swift. The Montgomery County SWAT West Team arrested Waller within hours, at 5:15 a.m. Monday.

His arraignment is scheduled for later Monday.
