270 Child Porn Images, Videos Found On Delco Man's Computers: DA

When authorities searched the man's laptops, they found 83 videos and over 188 images of child pornography, according to the DA's office.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A Delaware County man is facing child porn related charges after more than 250 images and videos of child pornography were found on his computers, the Delaware County District Attorney's Office said.

District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland said Thursday that Daniel Newberg, 31, of Glenolden was arrested and charged with dissemination and possession of child pornography.

Newberg, 31, is charged with two counts of felony dissemination of child pornography, 25 counts of felony possession of child pornography, and felony criminal use of a communication facility.

At about 6:10 a.m. on June 14, 2018, a search warrant was executed by CID detectives and the Glenolden Police Department at Newberg's residence after CID investigators received information that child pornography was being downloaded and viewed at that residence, the DA's office said.

Newberg was found in his second-floor bedroom and told authorities he had been using a file sharing program on his computer for about 10 years to download child pornography, according to the DA's office.

During the search, detectives confiscated two laptops which a later subsequent forensic examination showed they 83 videos and more than 188 images of child pornography on the computers.

"Those who possess child pornography contribute to the appalling exploitation of innocent children,” said District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland. “In partnership with our local police, CID detectives and forensic analysts, our ICAC Task Force actively works to locate and arrest these individuals to ensure our children’s safety. I commend CID Sergeant Kenneth Bellis and our ICAC Task Force, as well as the Glenolden Police Department, for their immediate and swift response, and continued work to help us apprehend these perpetrators.”

Newberg was arraigned on Feb. 12 and had bail set at 10 percent of $40,000. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27.
