RADNOR, PA — Fourth of July activities around Radnor could have extra sparkle in 2026 for the 250th anniversary, or semiquincentennial, of the Declaration of Independence.
The holiday falls on a Saturday in the middle of a three-day weekend, July 3-5. To help you fit it all in on your Fourth of July calendar, Patch has put together a guide to fireworks and other celebrations in Radnor and the surrounding areas.
Radnor Township hosted a fireworks show Thursday night. But if you missed it, or you're in the mood for more, you can check out several other fireworks shows throughout the region.
But eventgoers should be mindful of the heat. The region is facing what could be its hottest stretch in more than 10 years, according to the National Weather Service's Philadelphia/Mount Holly Office.
Heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees are expected during each day through July 4, possibly reaching 115 at times. The NWS recommends forgoing outdoor activities and staying inside with air conditioning.
But if you do go out, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight or loose-fitting clothing, and try to limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening.
Before heading to an event, make sure to check the forecast and event pages, as the extreme heat may lead to events being cancelled, postponed or modified.
Here are some local Fourth of July events:
Garrett Hill-Rosemont July 4th Parade
4th of July Celebration in Tredyffrin Township
Easttown Township's Annual July 4th Community Picnic and Concert
Valley Forge 50/250 Celebration
Celebrations around the country recall not only the events leading up to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, but also look forward and aim to make the Fourth of July weekend a massive, multigenerational cultural moment focused on community connections and charitable giving.
America’s Block Party, an unprecedented coast-to-coast initiative, is one of the signature events of America 250, the congressionally chartered nonprofit overseeing the semiquincentennial celebration.
A time capsule will be buried in Philadelphia to be opened in 2276 on July 4. It contains a carefully curated collection of letters and artifacts reflecting the leadership, institutions, and communities that shape the country today. It will include contributions from all three branches of the U.S. federal government and submissions from each of the 50 states, Washington D.C., and five territories.
