Artists Converging On Main Line For Plein Air Festival

WAYNE, PA – More than 30 artists from across the country are heading to Wayne soon. Why? For the Wayne Art Center's 11th AnnualPlein Air Festival where the artists will be tasked with creating an original work based on subjects within a 25-mile radius of Wayne.

The event will task 31 artists – a few who are locals – with creating new pieces in just a five and a half days.

From May 8 to May 13, the artists will head into the Delaware Valley to find their subjects. Once completed, the pieces will be shown at an exhibit from May 15 to June 24 at the Wayne Art Center.

On Saturday, May 13, the artists' work will be presented awards at a free reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. More than $15,000 in prize money is available this year.

Juror Don Demers, whose artwork has been feared in National Geographic, Field & Stream, and Reader's Digest, will judge the pieces.

The festival will begin on May 7 with an Artist and Sponsor Welcome Dinner.
