Pedestrian Safety Improvement Work Beings Tuesday In North Wayne
Safety improvements include adding pedestrian signal activation buttons, installing ADA curb ramps in four areas, and sidewalk replacement.

WAYNE, PA — A pedestrian safety project in Wayne is set to begin next week, Radnor Township officials said.
Starting Tuesday next week, work on the North Wayne Pedestrian Safety Project will get underway.
Contractors D. Spaventa and Sons will begin working next week and are expected to finish work in mid-April.

Improvements coming to North Wayne include:
- installing five ADA curb ramps at Poplar Avenue, Station Avenue (station side), North Wayne Avenue (west side), and West Avenue (north side);
- replacing of the majority of sidewalk from Poplar Avenue to Station Avenue, including the area beneath the railroad bridge;
- installing five pedestrian signal activation buttons;
- and adding pavement markings.
Work will be done on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some work may occur on Saturday, officials said.

During the work, the sidewalk from Poplar Avenue to Station will be closed for replacement at times.

Township officials said it is imperative that pedestrians use the SEPTA tunnel, and not walk in North Wayne Avenue.
