Philly Zoo President Speaking At Wayne Art Center April 6

Vik Dewan will talk about issues that zoos face and how the Philadelphia zoo is evolving.

As part of the Wayne Art Center's HomeGrown Lecture series, the Philadelphia Zoo's president and CEO will be stopping by the center in April to talk about all things zoos.

Vik Dewan is President and CEO of the Philadelphia Zoo, the nation's first zoo, will be the center of the April 6 HomeGrown lecture.

From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Dewan will discuss the issues facing today’s zoos, their relevance in the 21st century world, and his visionary ideas for the future of the Philadelphia Zoo.

Tickets are just $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Dewan joined the Zoo 10 years ago when the organization was beginning to think about its future and the transformation needed to grow visitation and bolster financial performance, according to the Wayne Art Center.

After joining the zoo, Dewan challenged the organization to be the most innovative and financially self-sustaining non-profit in the region and country and helped launch innovations at the zoo, including the Zoo360 animal trail system which lets animals to securely travel across the zoo’s campus, the Art Center says.

The Wayne Art Center is located at 413 Maplewood Ave., Wayne.
