"Advance care planning often involves very difficult, and sometimes uncomfortable, conversations about the care you wish to receive."

“Main Line Health is committed to providing health and wellness resources to members in the communities we serve,” Karl Ahlswede, MD, Medical Director of Palliative Care at Main Line Health, said in a press release. “Advance care planning often involves very difficult, and sometimes uncomfortable, conversations about the care you wish to receive if you became unable to speak for yourself. These crucial conversations can help you make decisions based on your personal values and preferences, and can reduce uncertainty and confusion for your loved ones when these decisions need to be made. It’s beneficial to have these conversations with your physician and other members of your health care team so that you can be informed and confident in your care planning options for the future.”

Because of National Healthcare Decisions Week, many more people in our communities can be expected to have thoughtful conversations about their healthcare decisions and complete reliable advance directives to make their wishes known.

Delaware County Community Coalition (DC3), Community Care Coalition of Chester County (C5) and the Tri-County Community Care Coalition (TC4), and other national, state and community organizations will also participate in National Healthcare Decisions Week.
