Radnor Planners Won't Recommend Villanova's Plans
Critics of the proposal have said the construction will increase both noise and traffic in the area.
The Radnor Township Planning Commission on Wednesday voted to recommend against approval for Villanova University’s conditional use plan to build a new dorm along Lancaster Avenue, among other projects.
The vote Wednesday was 6 to 1, Main Line Media News reported.
In an existing parking lot on Lancaster Avenue, Villanova plans to build dorms, a parking garage, a bookstore and a performing arts center.

The plan also includes a pedestrian bridge over Lancaster, where thousands of students cross every day.

Needed zoning changes were approved by the township Board of Commissioners this spring.
The Planning Commission said the university would have to make a number of changes before the plan could be recommended.
The Board of Commissioners will hold a separate hearing on the university’s conditional use plan; it is set for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21. See the agenda here.
