Radnor Students Bring Home Literature, Visual Arts Awards

Radnor Township School District students continue to shine. Great job Anne Chen, Samantha Lee, Lauren Yang, and Audrey Margolies!

Radnor Township School District students never fail to be outstanding, and this remained true at the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia on March 25.

At the ceremony, four RTSD students brought home top honors for their visual arts and literary work, bringing home top honors out of 1050 students from the greater Philadelphia area.

Senior Anne Chen took home a Visual Arts Gold Key Award; junior Samantha Lee won the Literary Arts Gold Key Award; sophomore Lauren Yang was awarded the Visual Arts Gold Key Award; and Radnor Middle School 8th-grader Audrey Margolies was awarded two Literary Arts Gold Key Awards.

For Lee, she was one of only five American Voices Gold Key nominees whose work advanced to the national level, the district said.

Not only did those four students bring home Gold Key awards, others earned recognition for their work.

Junior Emilija Sagaityte received a Silver Key Award in novel writing and honorable mention in poetry and 8th-graders Maya Casillas, Ava Hawkins and Carina Vale received honorable mentions for their submitted works, the district said.

The students earned their recognition after standing out among From about 1,700 visual arts entries and 1000 written submissions, the district said.

Each year, the Philadelphia Writing Project serves as the local affiliate for the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, according to the district.
