Broomall Residents Seek To Stop Natural Gas Reliability Station
A petition has been launched urging Marple officials to deny PECO's planned natural gas reliability station at Sproul and Cedar Grove roads.
BROOMALL, PA — As PECO plans to install a natural gas reliability station in Broomall, residents are pushing back.
The utility company is looking to construct the station at Sproul and Cedar Grove roads in Broomall.
However, a special exception is needed from Marple Township and residents have launched a petition to put an end to the plan.

A Change.org petition claims the station could bring about many issues to the area.
Main qualms brought up by the petitioners include traffic impacts, environmental dangers, and potential "acts of malice or even terrorism."

And petitioners say it wouldn't even benefit the community.
"Far from being in the Public Interest, it would not necessarily even provide gas for customers in the vicinity- in fact their Appeal Supplement specifies that it will serve Chester County," the petition reads.
PECO's special exception should be denied based on "public safety, health and welfare, vehicular traffic and pedestrian safety, appropriate for location, intent of district, environmental impact, aesthetics, and overall public interest," the petition reads.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the petition has more than 700 signatures with a 1,000 signature goal.
