Three Arrested For Contraband At Delco Prison: DA's Office
Prescription drugs and marijuana were among the contraband recovered.
Three people were are facing contraband and drug charges after George W. Hill Correctional Facility officers discovered drugs on two incoming inmates and one who was already in the prison, according Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said Friday.
All of the defendants have been charged with possession of a controlled substance and/or contraband by an inmate, a felony of the second degree, the DA's office said.
According to the DA's office, Karen Ganzelli, of Essington, was taken to George W. Hill Correctional Facility for a probation violation on Oct. 5. Upon being searched by intake officers, Ganzelli was found to be in possession of a bottle of Xanax pills in Ganzelli’s bra as well as Suboxone foil packets that were hidden between her buttocks, the DA's office said. Ganzelli told officers that she "didn't want no one to take them," according to the DA's office.

On October 14, a correctional officer was conducting an inmate check on Anthony Kline, 28, the DA's office said. When asked if there was anything he would like to turn over, Inmate Kline reached into his underwear and removed one suboxone strip and five pills which were later determined as clonazepam, according to the DA's office.
After being arrested for retail theft, Anthony Walker, 21, of Philadelphia was taken to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility, the DA's office said. A correctional officer found a green leafy substance on Walker's person, which was turned over as evidence to investigators and later confirmed to be marijuana, the DA's office said.

"The investigators and correctional officers at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility are to be" Whelan said in a press release. "As a result of their training and vigilance, these officers were able to successfully bring about these arrests ensuring the safety of their fellow employees and inmates at the prison."
The arrests are the result of collaborative investigations conducted by the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division and authorities with the George W. Hill Correctional Facility, the DA's office said.
