Valley Forge Hut Brigade Works To Restore Park
Volunteers are the key to preserving the national treasure.

In 2006, Valley Forge National Historical Park was victimized by an act of arson.
A hut in the Muhlenberg Brigade was razed to the ground.
In the wake of the disaster, over a dozen volunteers came together to restore the historic asset and cultural treasure. But they didn’t stop there.

They are supported by NOVA (Network of Volunteer Associates), a community service organization which is funded by Lockheed Martin.

The Hut Brigade works with the Friends of Valley Forge Park to repair roofs, walls, and other carefully preserved structures throughout the park.
On Saturday, the Brigade made important strides toward completing their latest task: a complete renovation of the Blacksmith Hut.
“The end is in sight,” Valley Forge’s Facebook page commented.
Two of the remaining three doors were hung, and they would have finished the third, but some of the necessary hardware that was ordered for the door did not arrive, according to the page.
