He called some of his school's teachers, administration, and board members "authoritative." Then his mic went out.

VILLANOVA, PA – A young man who is heading to Villanova University in the fall was rather outspoken in his high school valedictorian speech, so much so that the Main Line-bound valedictorian was silenced during his remarks.
Peter Butera was giving his valedictorian speech at the Wyoming Area School District's 2017 commencement ceremony when he had some criticism for some of the school's faculty, administration and board members.
The 18-year-old outgoing senior, who said serving as the class president was a great honor, but said it may as well have been a party planning role.

"Despite some of the outstanding people in our school, the lack of a real student government combined with the authoritative attitude that a few teachers, administrators and board members have prevents students from truly developing as leaders," he said.
Then his mic went out.

Shouts from the crowd urged administration to let Butera speak, but he was ushered off without finishing his remarks.
His classmates and the graduation audience gave a rousing cheer to Butera for speaking out.
"I don’t think it could have gone any better,"Butera told the Citizen's Voice. "I got my point across and them cutting the microphone proved my point to be true."
District officials said Butera's speech at the ceremony was different from what was provided to administration ahead of time.
