Wayne Art Center's Free Summer Performances

Creative Food Sculpture Demonstration and Chinese Culture & Dance Performance are amongst the events.

 

Each year the offers a series of performances, artist demonstrations and art workshops as a special treat to campers and their families.

The free programs are the perfect opportunity for our camp families and community members to enjoy a morning of art together.

“Chinese Culture & Dance Performance” with the Minghui Chinese School Dance Team

Join the Wayne Art Center in welcoming dancers from the Minghui Chinese School dance team as they present a unique performance of Chinese dance & cultural arts. The colorful costumes, traditional music and dynamic dances are sure to inform as well as entertain! The performance begins at 11:30 AM on Wednesday June 27th, and will run approximately 45 minutes. Plan on attending with your family, and be sure to invite friends!

“Art Over Lunch: Jackson Pollock!” with Abby Laible

Join the Wayne Art Center’s own Abby Laible for a colorful arts workshop based on the paintings of Jackson Pollock! Learn about Abstract Expressionism, and the methods that Jackson Pollock used to create his magnificent large scale works. Using large papers, and various methods of dripping paint, create your own unique masterpiece to bring home! The workshop begins at 11:30AM on Wednesday, July 18th and will run approximately 45 minutes. Come, enjoy with your family and be sure to invite your friends!

“Glorious Glass Beads” with Markels Roberts of Diving Cat Studio

Did you ever wonder how those beautiful & unique glass beads in your favorite necklace are made? Join us on Wednesday, August 1st as we welcome Markels Roberts of Diving Cat Studios in Phoenixville PA. Markels is an accomplished glass artist as well as studio potter. She will demonstrate the techniques used to create these treasures in flame worked glass. Each child will leave with their choice of bead on a cord necklace to commemorate the experience. “Play With Your Food: Creative Food Sculpture Demonstration” with Susie MacDonnell of The Willistown Conservation Trust

Carve a little or carve a lot - there's a face hidden in almost any fruit or vegetable - waiting for release! Turn a pepper into a camel, beets to mice, grapes to bugs, a cucumber into a race car - you'll never look at a vegetable the same way again! Join us in welcoming Susie MacDonnell of the Willistown Conservation Trust as she demonstrates techniques of creating fabulously fun food sculptures! Each child will create a simple creation of their own to take home at the end!
