"We couldn’t be more excited to share this important milestone with the community as we gear up to welcome our first students for the 2018-2019 academic year," Dr. Marissa Kiepert Truong, SDEDS at head of school, said. "Our newly renovated building, situated on 39 acres of the beautiful, historic grounds of St. David’s Episcopal Church, provides the perfect setting for children to learn and thrive."

The brand new coeducational, private, independent school resides in the Knewstub Education Building of St. David’s Episcopal Church and offers programs for 2-year-olds through kindergarten, including a transitional kindergarten option.

The school is taking applications on a rolling basis now though Jan. 15 for the 2018-2018 school year.

In addition to a hands-on curriculum, SDEDS offers a wide range of extracurricular activities — such as the arts, Spanish, physical education, nature, chapel and music — to support the development of well-rounded, intellectually curious children. In the coming years, SDEDS will extend its curriculum through fourth grade.

"We are very proud of our new Day School," Brooke Choate, M.A., director of academic support at SDEDS, said. "Our curriculum truly is unique —with small student-to-teacher ratios, a whole-child approach to learning and programming that is grounded in Christian values, emphasizing character development and spiritual growth."

In addition to the ribbon-cutting event, SDEDS will host two open houses for interested families, children and community members on Sunday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 10, both at noon, as well as a local speaker series on Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16 and Nov. 29, all at 6 p.m.

SDEDS is also hosting the annual Main Line Parent Education Fair on Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Private tours are also available throughout the fall and can be scheduled online here.

SDEDS is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and is committed to diversity, inclusion and education for all. The school has a tuition assistance program available for qualifying families.
